The signs are pretty clear.
“NO PARKING.”
Yet every day at my daughter’s preschool, there they are: the trucks parked near the sidewalk, the sedans blocking the front door.
Really?
Can these people not read? Do they not care? I guess their time is just more important than everyone else’s.
This morning, I watched a woman ramp her SUV up on the sidewalk — despite the fact that there were several open spaces in the lot. She was talking on her cell phone, so I guess that entitled her to break the rules in the name of convenience.
I saw another car pull into a handicapped spot and watched the young driver in high heels jump out with her two children. She seemed to be moving around just fine for someone, you know, “handicapped.”
“It’s like that at every school,” my friends say. “All manners go out the window when parents are short on time and long on stress.”
Well, that’s just sad. Shouldn’t we be setting a better example for our children?
